I’ve tried many different types of antidepressant and none have ever worked besides Wellbutrin and it gave me a seizure so we tried a different and no luck again so they put me back on Wellbutrin extended release. Haven’t taken them long enough to notice this time around but the doc said something about Wellbutrin being different from most types of antidepressant. He didn’t tell me what makes them different though. Does anybody know what makes them so different and why it’s the only type that seems to help me?

Its not an SSRI. It works on different receptors, ultimately releasing dopamine as opposed to serotonin. Maybe your dopamine levels are out of wack?

I was put on it for Bipolar because apparently its the only one that wont trigger mania.

I loved it.. But i admitted to abusing it so they took me off.

Buproprion actually works predominantly on norepinephrine (its active metabolite is a NRI), but also a little bit on dopamine. It's a type of chemical known as a cathinone, which are stimulant drugs.
