Hi guys, just out of curiosity. What benefit would one get starting TRT if their T levels are normal.

There is a trend amongst some circles that starting TRT early is better instead of waiting before it drops to the medical definition of low T?

What effect would this have on your natural T levels?

So natural testosterone has peaks and troughs (not necessarily like a sine wave but the idea sort of fits). With trt you have constant levels without as steep of peaks and trough so you're getting both the pros and cons of constant testosterone elevation. This means more time at those "higher levels" and less time at those "lower levels"

Your natural production goes to basically zero while on TRT.
If you come off from a TRT dose it's likely that you'll be able to regain normal testosterone production relatively quickly, maybe a bit less than before TRT, but not necessarily.

There is an ever so slight chance that recovery will be either very long or even that you won't ever go back to normal, but that's more likely with people that use high dosages and steroids other than Testosterone.

Ofcourse, you may never even want to come off.

If you have medically normal levels of testosterone there is no need to "replace" any deficit because the deficit doesn't exist.

Its like giving medications for lowering blood pressure to someone with normal BP, HIV meds to someone without HIV, chemotherapy to a cancer-free person, or antidepressants to a happy person... no benefit and only risk,

So from my understanding trt is pointless if you have normal t levels, unless you go down the roid route and take high doses which then come with the negative long term health affects once you stop

That would appear to be correct.. Why would you replace natural production for the same physiological amount.?
Initially there would be a slight increase in plasma testosterone until homeostasis mechanisms shutdown natural production..
Natural cyclic release would be substituted for a once or twice weekly injection protocol, or daily patch or cream application..
I'm unsure if potential to side effects would be relevant, as the dose should be within physiological range..
Although there may be issues with the hypothalamus kickstarting, plus leydig and sertoli cell damage..

Like Genetic Freak said above, you will tank your own T for absolutely no reason. Wait until it drops naturally, or go supraphysiologicol
