Always a long shot on any BBin forum but does anyone know if Platz made any videos back in the day.....utube has some old uploaded VHs snippets but I can't tell if they are part of instructional video.

The best footage of him of course is in Arnolds total rebuild where he really is a co-star IMO .

Anyone also know of any PDFs lurking etc, seems like Gold dust finding good Platz material.
 


Honestly this video is almost comical when he gets aggressive with the movement.
 



I've personally tried this one. Sometimes you have to get bizarrely intense with partial reps and forced reps to produce some quality growth in your calves. It makes sense considering gastrocnemius is mostly Type II muscle fibers and respond best to high intensity heavy weight. The gastroc also is responsible for the majority of the size. The soleus is slow twitch however and is responsible for the stabilization of your ankles vs the gastroc assisting in knee flexion.

I always found a mix of rep ranges and weighs from light high rep burnouts to grinding ridiculous weight forced most growth into guys I have trained/trained with due to fast/slow nature of both calve muscles.

Also old school donkey calf raises are daddy when it comes to growth although I do believe its true for most that yoh either have calves of you don't.

My calves grow best when I grow......duh,sounds stupid but when i went thru a heavy bulking phase once in the past I did not train calves and they grew to the same largest diameter they had in the past when trained although they "looked" differenent.

I attributed that to simply the fact that they had to carry my ass around hence fat boy calves.

Also agreed on the 1st Platz vid,it is 80s greaf but a tad hilarious......still can hardly argue with his results.
 
If you didn't know what you were watching, that first video is almost like some softcore weightlifting pornography featuring Quad Rockwell.

I was wondering if anyone would catch my pun. I thought it was clever. The real question is how did his knees survive those bizarre angles?
 
Doubt he could kneel ful ROM as a normal mortal as his hams hamging out his ass would bang off his calves.

Probably true and he wasn't even gay probably even bi.

His physique and Mike Mentzers are perfert to me, much prefer them to zane or Arnold or anyone out today although you can't really compare todays BBer and the 70s.
 
Practically every famous man is rumoured to be gay by someone at some point! I think we can safely say it's probably all crap. I think Bob Paris was one of the few actually (openly?) acknowledged gay men in the sport. However what does a man's sexuality have to do with his bodybuilding achievements? Platz's leg training was crazy regardless of who he may or may not have slept with...
 
All I know is that regardless of how large he may have been in bed. Those quads were adequate enough to put you in the hospital for at least 2 weeks. Intensive care unit of course. Shit I would have a sexual relationship with those legs if it somehow gave me larger quads/hamstrings.

Sure I don't diasgree. But by extension we can't simply imply that every bodybuilder rumoured to be gay is actually gay. I know quite a few make money from the whole muscle worship scene, where I assume most customers are gay men, but that doesn't mean the guys doing it necessarily are.
 
I guess Toms dinky must of looked bloody small though squished between those quads with some shrunken testes to match.

To be fair from what I saw "sponsor" wise whilst working with the TBBA- Thai BBin fed a lot of young BBers were "sponsored" by Wealthier and much old white or sometimes fellow Asian guy, goes with the terrority.Always has.
