Tolerance Crossover Between Opiates and Benzos?

I am fairly opiate tolerant, although I'm not a super frequent user and have never tried the heavy stuff like heroin or fentanyl. I have however had very little experience with benzodiazopines. So tonight I'm experimenting with Lorazepam for the first time and wondering whether or not I'll need more than the usual first timer dose due to my opiate tolerance?

Opioid tolerance should have no effect on benzodiazepine tolerance.

However, i would imagine a heavy opioid user or drinker in particular would find 1mg of xanax to be less sedating than those who are more naive insofar as depressants are concerned.

Otherwise they are largely independent systems.
