Do any other Canadians remember the showcase review that came on showcase back in the 90's and early 2000's? Judging by my google searches i am not the only one that remembers this and had my mind first exposed to fucked up film by it. It was the first time i got to see weird foreign films and really any other films besides what you found down to your video store as this was before streaming. Many of the movies on there cannot be found even today. I have looked up a few of their foreign films i remember and had no luck finding them. So good fucking luck finding them anywhere back in say 97 when most people didnt even have internet yet.
On the showcase review i remember their tagline was uncut every night as they where one of the few tv channels that didnt censor their shit back in the day. I was so greatful to have something like this in the 90's though as there was just no way you where finding there movies at your local store. Fridays was the best because they had fridays without borders which meant some foreign language soft core porn usually or just something really skanky. Although north american stuff did make it on there from time to time.
For a generation of us this was the only way we could see these movies at all though it seems so weird today with so may streaming sites to choose from. Granted i do have a few white whales of movies that i am still trying to track down on the internet that i cannot find despite all the modern technology we have at our fingertips. Perhaps some movies are best enjoyed like i enjoyed many of the movies on showcase which was being 16 and high as fuck on shrooms or drunk. But id still like to have a deck at them to see if they still stand up
