The city skyline bites into night,
a jagged row of teeth claiming its prey
We dodge patrol cars like veins,
with fingers contorted in a petrified grip

There's a serene discomfort as days
peel from the sun, and the slow heat
of summer force us to prowl,
blinded by risk and reward

We drone on the cheaply tarred roads
of this godforsaken place
Through a post-industrial wasteland
and the barren fields of our minds,
we drone

The fluids in joints grinds like gravel
as airwaves weaves through marrow
and bone,
stitching us up to rot inside

The chains of the swings rattles and creaks,
their feverish whispers like prayers
rasping my skin,
as you extend for a celestial body

But jaundiced and wide-eyed you sink
into earth, and I'm left by myself
to blot out the stars

Favorite lines. So many of them.

Strong opening and finish. Nice!
