I haven't written a poem in awhile, but a clever idea occurred to me and I wanted to write it down:

The Heron s here
He was here yesterday
He'll be here tomorrow

The Heron s here
He was always here
He knew my name before me

The Heron s here
He helped set the table
He only used forks

The Heron s here
He just stares at me
He never looks away

Soon, he'll be gone

I love your poem, too.
I live around a lot of great blue herons. They are very eternal. And I have no doubt that any heron worth its salt would only set a table with nothing but forks. Once saw a heron skewer a snake on its beak in a field and then lift his very fork-like foot to his mouth and transfer lunch onto those tines to dine more leisurely.
