Do you even remember the last time you spoke?
Days ago would you have cared?

Death has a way of enforcing love
This projected self-interest

So sad she died
So sad she's gone

And what will I leave behind?
Who will be the first to mourn?
Who will be the last?

Some memories are never far
Though they don't visit for so long
Hermits in their secret garden
In that shade too cool

I'm walking up that pebbled path
The roses smell nice
The roses are all I see
Thorns all hidden
Until the prick
And the blood

I stay indoors until another one goes
And then I break my vow
Every time

And the shade is too cool
In that secret garden
...

I really like this. I had to read it over a few times to really get a sense. I'm connecting to a feelings of loss and regret when I read it.
"Hermits in their secret garden In that shade too cool", love that line. Thank you for sharing.
