Ritalin (methylphenidate) differing effects, ORAL versus NASAL ROA - dependent on metabolites, or bioavailability?

I ask with respect to ritalin, but as a means to get perspective on methamphetamine in relation to oral versus nasal dosing.

Ritalin is very weak for recreational effects, when used orally.
Reported to be potent used nasally.

Is this attributable to high bioavailability, or to some other metabolic factor, like it by passes metabolism used nasally so produces a more potent outcome?

........

Re methamphetamine:

I did have a look over this paper exploring its pharmacokinetics.

It doesn't mention or explore differing effects via metabolites, just bioavailability.

Any more well informed on whether nasal versus oral dosing of stimulants, those in question, produce differing effects due to

1) more acute bioavailability, or

2) due to by-passing first pass metabolism with taken nasally?

Another way to phrase the question would be:

Is methamphetamine more recreational or intense, when used nasally versus orally?

As is the case with Ritalin?
