I don't think the 'blandness' or 'uniqueness of a psychedelic is dependent on its receptor profile but on the activation of the key receptor (5-HT2A) itself. It has already been established that there are at least 4 second messenger pathways (phospholipases C, A2 and D + beta-arrestin recruitment) and a protein/protein interaction with the mGluR2 receptor. I find it more likely that the degree to which these pathways are activated are responsible for the 'uniqueness' of different psychedelics.
