I was only partially kidding in reference to the Blow scene where it is tested by burning rate at different temperatures. Or am I getting mixed up with the purity testing scene from The French Connection? Hmmm... Any input on this anyone?

Any instructions on equipment required and how to utilize, particularly, what results should be expected with cocaine HCl?

Some impurities will melt below the melting point of the compound of interest and some may melt at a higher temp. It could be done with any electric heating device with fine temp control and an IR thermometer. Just heat to cocaine melting point while recording temp and observe how much melts at what temp
