I am very interested in getting an off camera porn industry job....
marketing, production, writing porns, something more "white collar"

i have no idea how to break into this part of the industry.... they are always searching for girls to be on camera but what about off?

also i am about to graduate with a degree in film... (if i finish my last few classes that is)

maybe this is a retarded idea but maybe not ;)

why would this be any different from finding a job in another sector?

identify companies you want to work for. see if they have publicised openings and apply. mine your network for connections and ask for introductions. create a version of your resume which focuses on skills and experience relevant to the position you seek. etc.

nobody is going to hand you an opportunity on a plate - you need to do some 'leg work'. what have you done so far?

well not much as i dont totally know where to start....

i know that things wont be handed to me

bangbros for instance has thier east coast base around here....
i tried to research openings online but all i could find was for on camera stuff
i just wasnt really sure where to start and i dont think i can go to the school for connections i doubt they have many
they like to consider themselves to "high brow" for the adult side of the film industry despite the fact that it is incredibly profitable and makes up a large part of the film industry

i dont really have any "connections" to get me in either

with a bit of luck, you'll get as much out of the process as you put into it. with all due respect, it doesn't sound like you're prepared to do very much to make this happen...

its not that i am just not really sure where to start...

i am willing to intern and whatnot but i dont know where to apply for these positions/ find openings
like i said its easy to apply for an on camera job but i didnt find much else.... its like they purposely keep things a bit more underground

also its a wierd question but i wonder if its harder to get respect as a woman in the industry... do men automatically just view you as sex objects?

in that case, you're going to have to think outside the box a little. at very least, you've identified, say, the top 20 companies you want to work for and identified whether you know anybody (who knows anybody) who works there?

I'd rather be a fluffer than a mopper...

Hate to sound a little sour, but something tells me that the most of the people behind the camera in the porn industry didn't get a degree in film, especially these days when editing software is so cheap and abundant, and more important than what you're using to take the pictures. The paper-pushing side of the industry is probably easier to break into, but then again the skills needed there could be applicable to almost any other modern business. I'd aim little higher with a film degree (so to speak), competitive as it is, but that's just me.

In any event, good luck to you.

There are industry forums. I remember hearing a couple of them named in some casual conversations with adult performers I watched on youtube but I don't remember the names. Google found this: http://xxxporntalk.com/

have you been to the AVN awards in Vegas?

if bdsm is ok and you're willing to move there are job posts at http://www.kink.com/k/jobs.jsp

My ex fiancee worked at an adult megastore and learned a tremendous amount about the industry so that could be a starting point. If you're not willing to move to the San Fernando Valley (north LA metro area) it might be hard to get a job actually making porn.

There are TONS of people doing their own businesses. I did a scene with a woman who made amateur foot fetish videos that she uploaded to a pay site which payed her a small amount each time a member viewed one. We did some funky stuff with UV reactive nail polish, jewelry and a blacklight. :) Can't remember the name of the site but that was years ago anyway.
