Opioids Planning on taking 5 day's worth of methadone in an hour or 2

I'm on 800mg tapentadol per day and 24mg methadone. I've not taken 5 day's worth of methadone since the tapentadol has held me and I'm going to down it in a couple of hours. I just thought I'd ask if this is an OD risk? I was originally on 62mg methadone alone and double dosing was perfectly safe (did it probably hundreds or even thousands of times). I've been on the methadone/tapentadol combo for about maybe 6 weeks now so I don't really know where my tolerance is at.

I won't take today's tapentadol though, or maybe a little to prevent the noradrenaline issues.

I would appreciate any advice I can get.

I really wish they had supervised consumption rooms in the UK because when you're alone and taking a new drug for the first time or a different dose or just a new combination of drugs it really would be safer to have medically trained nurses on hand to make sure nothing goes wrong. I really don't see why people would be opposed to this, especially in a supposedly civilised society where we have amazing technology and socialist welfare to help the vulnerable disabled. With all this we're still so backward. I just don't understand what's wrong with people.

Well I guess you already did this, but idk man. What's your tolerance like? If you haven't been abusing opiates and haven't taken over 24mgs of methadone in a long time, I'd say this is a pretty stupid idea. But if you were just taking it as prescribed for 6 weeks as you said, and want to up your dose that steep, I think it's bad "practice".

AS for a supervised room- go out on the street and sit on a bench in public LOL. I did that once when I thought I was ODing. I thought it was best to go out in public so hopefully someone would call 911 for me if I fell out.

Dude we have a member who hae not posted after doubling their dose to 400 mg methadone that the community is worried is possibly dead due to OD hopefully recovering in ER. I hope you did not do this and decide against it.

^ this!!!
Dude why play with ur life for such a fleeting dirty feeling, it's just not worth it brother!
Please post when u can so we know ur good bro.

I take 800 mg tapentadol per day which is a synthetic opioid o I wasn't opiate-free. Anyway the 120mg got me so high I ended up nodding out while standing in my local supermarket so my tolerance was a lot lower than I had anticipated.

I did purposefully go out in public but I didn't OD thankfully.

Hey Arti'!

When getting high on methadone I only ever take 2.5x - 3.5x my daily dose (MMT once daily dosing notbpain dosing where you use it 3x a day/ every 6 hours.) this I find either gets me nice and high (The 2.5x dose.) or very fucked and nodding when sat down (3x -3.5x Daily dose, so if on 25mg I'd take 75mg - 87/88mg.).

Becareful methadone is very easy to OD on as it takes so long to fully kick in (3 Hours) which leads people into taking more as they think after 30min's to 1hour they haven't taken enough as they're not feeling much if anything and then it all kicks in and they OD/die.

Another thing if you OD and are lucky enough to be found in time you'll have to say in hospital for 24hours in full withdrawal!!! This is because naloxone only lasts 1 hour and when it wears off you'll re-OD off the methadone in your system. The methadone needs 24hours to be fully metabolised to a safe enough level where you can be discharged to go home.

You wouldn't be able to do what alot of people do when they OD on shorter acting opiates/opioids such as Heroin, morphine, Oxycodone etc, they come back round in full blown withdrawal and go and score to feel better. In people who have tolerances this is safer than with methadobe but still not safe or recommended.

So there you go very risky take 5x your normal dose and if you survive a methadone OD you'll have to suffer 24 hours of full WD in the hospital. Not worth it if you ask me, just lower you d

I still think people are confused. I take 800mg tapentadol and 24mg methadone per day (that is when I'm not saving it up). So whilst I might be taking 5x my daily dose of methadone you need to take into account the other opioid I take since this is on top of my usual methadone dose. I am painfully aware of how long it takes for methadone to kick in since I've been using it for years off and on and I generally don't re-dose opioids even if it's a different one. I just didn't know if my tolerance had gone down more than I anticipated but it turns out I was safe, so I now know 120mg is about the sweet spot for next time.

Hello. I need to just put this out there. I have been on methadone for almost 10 years. It was a life saver for me.. but it also damn near took my life as well. I had been doing exactly what everyone on here says they do an "Double" a dose or do it often. I got very use to it no problem.. UNTIL.. it became a HUGE PROBLEM. People need to understand methadone overdose does NOT happen immediately. For me it took almost 6 months. Of taking high daily doses, until my body just shut down.. no warning signs, no clue it was going to happen nothing. I went to sleep and didn't wake up.. LUCKILY I was visiting family and they found me and called 911.. SOMEHOW I got to hospital and revived. But I now have a pacemaker and defibrillator in my chest FOR LIFE. I need to mention I was 27 years old and in better than average shape. Athlete my whole life never done any drug other than oxys ( prescribed legally from several surgeries) I NEVER mixed methadone with any benzos or anything. I didn't even smoke weed. Sorry post so long but I need to get out there that although methadone is great and is incredibly helpful to millions of people.. it CAN AND IS DANGEROUS if abused. But not like shooting up u od immediately.. takes time. Any questions please ask I'll clarify. I'm not in the LEAST BIT JUDGING ANYONE AT ALL. To each their own, I'm just adding my personal experience and maybe help another person along the way.. Thx

You're talking about QT interval prolongation. Sorry to hear you ll methadone hurt your heart. At 30 mg I ended up with constant heart pain and had to stop it as every day felt closer and closer to a heart attack. Methadone is no bueno

Yes it was QT intervals. Exactly. Now my doc said I may have a genetic disorder that may have contributed to my heart attack, but being in great health and never any issues prior to that I do believe the high doses of methadone accumulated an caused my heart to stop. That's biggest thing I'm trying to get out to everyone.. high doses can be very dangerous.. maybe not today or tomorrow..but eventually. And I do have quite a tolerance to opiates.. wasn't just a first timer.. again not judging.. just hoping to help!

I'm on 100mg a day , daily dosing at pharmacy , with 1 take home a week , in 11 months I can get 3 take homes a week . I have taken 3x my dose and nodded for 12 hours solid . I just love nodding so much , I can get a decent nod off 2x my dose but it's not as intense . Methadone gets so underrated , but I love it , I can legally get smashed for $5 a day . Good for those on parole like myself .

Whenever I take 2x my daily dose I just don't get much out of it. No real euphoria or high, mostly just tired and out of it. What you're talking about doing is way dangerous and I would advise against it.

That's the thing about all opiates.. everyone is different.. some ppl don't like them.. others think it's best thing in the world! Methadone no different. Some ppl get high some dont. All depends.. everyone knows their own likes, dislikes and tolerances. The biggest thing about methadone is the way it builds in your system that's why it's different from say oxys or other opiates.. everyday u take it u still have some left from last time.. I personally believe it gets dangerous in doses of like 300mg or more for extended time use.. But again, that's my PERSONAL EXPERIENCE and in in no way giving medical advice.. or an expert. Just my opinion and from my experience but everyone's different and what may be lethal to me someone else may not be. So all I can say is know what your taking.. do some research and listen to your body.. be safe as you can!! Anyone has any questions or needs help I'll do what I can.. Thx.
