Philosophers Being Before Their Time

I'm referencing this Timothy Leary television interview, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5prNB4Ke3Qk (Leary, 1973).

But lets get to the point. He says something along the lines of. "all good philosophers end up in prison," (Leary, 1973).

Is there truth to that? Why? But i guess my real question is, if this is true, who is the current philosopher too far forward he (or she of course) challenges the juadeo-err whatever leary quotes throughout his life.

I used to admire Leary. However if you think about it wouldn't the better quote be "All philosophers end up escaping prison?" Which ironically Leary had accomplished.
