This has been bothering me for a long while now. Every now and then (seemingly at random), my passwords come up as plain text when signing into Bluelight.

I haven't seen this issue brought up anywhere else, and i've searched across other vBulletin and Chrome support boards. I do think it may be more to do with the Chrome browser, but wondered if it may have something to do with the lack of encryption on bluelight. As far as I know, bluelight.org doesn't have any secure encryption certificates to enable HTTPS, so I was wondering whether that may relate to this problem.

Another thing, is that recently i've been getting more frequent time-outs on bluelight. Last one was today at 12:12pm PST. At times its a problem on my end, but other times the problem persists after refreshing the my DNS settings and cache, and is confirmed as down through http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ The website shows as it still being up if the pages take a really long time to load, but in the past 7 days it showed as being 'down' when the site wouldn't load at all.

This has become increasingly more frequent for me as well. I've gotten the same results from downforeveryone as you did.

That'd freak me out, but in my highly customized Firefox, when I start typing in my login name it autocompletes if I press tab and the same will happen to the password field, but black dots will appear.

So here's what I've gathered.

I decided to manually enter https to check the security certificates, and lo it is still unsigned/untrusted. Knowing the certificate is untrusted by Firefox, which makes little difference to me here as the default communication on bluelight.org is an unencrypted, I decided to log in. And lo! once again, the dots fall by the wayside, and present the passwords in plain text as in the first post.

In the OP, Google Chrome was used, in this instance it was Firefox.
