Opioids Oxycodone & Subutex

Hey all,

Long time lurker and first time poster.

I was on Suboxone 8mg daily and have been changed to Subutex 8mg daily by my specialist so now im just on straight Bupe and no naloxone.

My D.O.C however is Oxycodone and I have a significant amount of Oxynorm 20mg Capsules on hand and wanted to have a bit as I am having a really shitty time at the moment and just want to relax for a bit.

My question however is will the bupe just completely block the Oxy thus just wasting good drugs?? I would normally insufflate or consume oxy orally however in all the research I have done I can't seem to find solid answers on if and how to go about giving it a crack.

Depends on what you mean by “significant amount”. IME it will take at least 240 mg to break through that amount of sub. And the high will be underwhelming. You can eventually get through with enough but there is a danger of respiratory depression and other things.
 
Ive never been on buprenorphine, but ive been on methadone and have attempted to penetrate the blockade effect. At sufficient doses anything is possible, but also dangerous (moreso with methadone than buprenorphine).

Clearly, the safest approach would be to gradually increase the dose of oxycodone until desired effect. Your ability to do this may be limited by the supply you describe of what you describe being "a significant amount", which might limit the extent to which you can approach this in a safe amount.

In otherwords, it is impossible to determine how many you'll need to take for desired effect. My guess is that it is significantly more than one capsule, but i can't tell you that definitively.

My thoughts precisely though i was unable to comment on dose due to inexperience with buprenorphine. Are you more of an alexei karamazov or an ivan?
 
Ha! I’d say I’d like to be Alexie but am more of a Dimitri. Though Ivan rears his head now and then!

I have 9 full boxes or 180 capsules x 20mg (sorry should have just specified but I was unsure on rules).

I think I may wait it out until I have tapered down the bupe further to around 4mg before I attempt to get over the block for the harm reduction reasons you guys have listed (and of course I wanna enjoy the high!)
