Opioids (Opiates) CWE STORAGE HELP PLEASE!

Friend makes killer homemade lean. But he can only do large batches and wants to store and use throughout the year. I know Pharmacy lean expires but that's Codeine HCL? How long would it take for straight Codeine/thats been CWE "expire"? Years? Months? How long would it last in a dark place with constant 16 degree temperature? And what would be ideal conditions for storage?

It's probably fine long term. If you want to make sure that you don't lose any potency, you can throw it in the freezer
