Need advice on loperamide

I usually take 400mg codeine per day. I have ran out and don't want to suffer extremes of withdrawls. I have heard loperamide can lessen the symptoms and may also provide a buzz to an extent.
I have plenty of loperamide at hand, any advice? As I've also heard horror stories with taking too much. I don't even know where to start with dosages etc.
 
Drugs.com says no more than 16mg per day, and use 4mg at a time.

It seems to be an anti-diarrhea medication.

Not sure about the recreational value/dosage, but i wouldn't push it too far past 16mg.
