myrcene (mango) placebo test

This needs to be done. I've gotten my hands on some myrcene (lemongrass oil contains approx 24 to 36 times as much myrcene per drop as a whole mango would have) and want to solve this once and for all.

Is the mango theory just a myth, or does it really work?

I will, over the course of the next month or two, hand a few people capsules which they won't be allowed to directly look at. Each person will undergo 2 tests: one with the oil, and one with a placebo, on separate occasions. They will then wait an hour and a half, smoke a weighed amount of the same strain from the same bag via the same method, and once both tests have concluded they will state which of the two smoke sessions got them more blazed. If anyone would like to participate, share your results below!

Why are you acting like it's never been studied? Like there's any controversy at all? Just most mangoes don't have a lot of myrcene, but it does have effects (mild sedative/painkiller) that combine well with weed, if you like to sleep. I guess you'd need to have a lot of mangoes or juice to get much noticeable effect on it's own & it'll depend on the variety of mango & it's freshness. I have felt a bit sleepier after drinking litres of 25% mango & apple juice and combining with weed, very hoppy beers can have a similar effect with weed, unlike other alcohol.

It's unstable in air & it has a distinctive aroma, so your placebo test may fail. Proper scientists have studied it. Herbs containing myrcene & other similar terpene compounds have been used for their relaxing effects for hundreds of years (hops, lavender, lemongrass, etc). It's also found in cannabis.

Lemongrass also contains other terpines which may be active, if you're studying lemongrass oil then you can't be sure it's mycene having any effect & not other compounds, or an entourage effect from the combination.
