Mycelium has halted.

Hello, everyone.

A friend of mine (seriously) is attempting to grow some mushrooms. He is using the grow bag technique. He inoculated the bags, and over the course of three weeks, they began to colonize, then halted. A couple of them are about 1/2 colonized, and the others only started. They have not appeared to do anything for about two weeks. There is still moisture in the bags. I am not sure what happened. Is there no hope for this grow? Can anything be done?

This is my bugbear too zangi - could be several things, not enough spores in the syringe, growbag substrate not much good, not wet enough. Once they stop they seem to stop for good unfortunately.

how's the temperature? if it's too cold, the fungus will colonize much slower. also, is there a way for fresh air to get inside the bags? fungi need oxygen too

What temperature are you keeping them at? I always found between 83-86°F to be optimal, the substrate will retain a small amount of heat so it doesn't matter if your a little under in the over all temperature, try not to let it get to dry and try and refrain from checking them everyday just keep them in the warm dark place.
