My Therapist Told Me To Grow Up

It starts with bottles of wine
proceeding to Cuba Libre's
Pouring tequila shots
to chase down the beers
Tongues slip on words
as we talk without speaking
Somebody sniffles and we hover
over cocaine on kitchen-counters
Savagely raging we sink
into more senseless debauchery
Swerving beneath clouds that drift,
ambivalent on champagne skies
On dirty tiles in small bathroom-stalls
Our noses dripping just like our eyes
Spun and strung we play pretend
as embers burn as one tonight
I guess this is defiance -
and it's petty,
but mine

did your therapist forget how fun it is to be young?
...the innocence... the curiosity... the love and excitement in the unknowns of life?

imo, if it makes you happy, literally and energetically (spiritually) , it does not matter what anyone else thinks about your choices.
.. if it works for you, does it need to work for others?

imo, therapists should ask more questions so people can work through things for themselves..
..do they have the answers you seek? or do they help you figure it out yourself?...

so YOU (any person seeing therapist) understand.. what they are getting at or trying to say..
does it matter if YOU can figure it out... or them.. at the end of the day..?
who is the one in need of help?

as always.. excellent work

In her defense, I gotta say that she's a fantastic therapist. The first one I've felt comfortable with.

She usually just asks the right question or nudges me in the right direction. a

Good question. I think a good therapist help you arrive at the points or conclusions they wish to advice.
A good therapist is a master manipulator, i.m.o. They can read people and tailor their treatments rather than look at check-lists.
who is the one in need of help?
I think therapists conduct therapy on themselves via their patients. Definitely. Consciously or not.
as always.. excellent work
Thanks for reading man, and the kind words. I appreciate it. :)
