I originally got prescribed with citalopram decribing my emotional roller coaster in a day, but can't stick to it from the side effects, it makes me feel quite dead emotionally and sort of makes me feel a bit of ghost, I don't know each time I try it I end up seeming to quick not long after because something concerns me,
recently I went to a specialist about my melatonin and he reviewed me saying I was depressed but would like to give me mirtazapine because it would help with my sleep too, I've heard this is different than an SSRI like citalopram, so would this be any better? Has anyone had experience with the 2?

Yeah I've used both, when I was on citalopram at 40mg i felt emotionless as you described. I'm currently on mirtazapine 45mg and it suits me better, it certainly helped with sleep when I first started taking it, but I did build up tolerence to the sedative effect. I'd give it a go if I was you, with these types of meds it's a case of trial and error until you find something that helps. If you want to know anything hit me up, I'll try and help if I can. Good luck mate.

Yes i have been on citalopram for a few months then i moved to mirtazapine for nearly a year from 15mg to 45mg now i take venlafaxine xl 75mg i highly recommend it i wish i was put on it from the start tbh,all the best.;)

only problem with mirtazapine is it made me extremely hungry all night.. and does also have sedative effects.
