I was just prescribed this for sciatica pain. Anyone have experiences with this? It's a steroid, right? I checked Wikipedia but the information was scant.

Very similar to Prednisone, will most likely give you similar side effects.

I've never taken a course of steroids myself but from what I've heard from people with IBD (my area of expertise), it has nasty (but predictable) side effects, but can be very effective in helping the condition it was prescribed for.

I didn't know it was used to treat pain. I've been scripted it once for a really bad case of poison ivy and it worked wonders really fast.
