marijuana grow question

swim was growing with cfls in the early stages of vegging and with rhe bulbs as close as could be to the plants. swims friend said that he should move the lights further away(6 in), because then it will grow taller because it has something to grow to. he said the amounts of lumens and watts of light is irrelevant, this however contradicts everything i know about growing. i think it may be because he is used to growing with hps.who is right?

Op is right about
As long as the lights or structures are not touching or physically stopping the plants from growing and they are not producing enough heat to damage your plants then providing them with the greatest lumens, aka the lowest lights is your best option.

Your friend is right because they are useing a much better grow light.

yeah i guess. i plan to get at least 250 watts of cfl.
