and you sang lullabies
when you were locked inside your closet
all the flowers in the garden
had their roots inside your hand
you said,
"the war is lost"
like we ever saw the killing fields
I drank the words
and felt them turn to sand
we stumbled through the night
like we had figured out
our purpose
in the mire of sentiment
you pulled sorrows
from a smile
naked feet crushing lilies
as you left and
disappeared
my fingers on scars
I guess I haven't
seen you for a while

this is my favourite part..

maybe...? part of (some of) our purposes..
is to find a way to pull ourselves (and by extension-- others) out of our own "sorrows"

... to fall in love with life again..
