Low Dose MDMA and Upregulation

Who says that though, the people who are dosing every week?

MDMA is a very reinforcing drug, although due to it's effects it creates patterns of abuse that don't come out everyday. There's a thread in DITM about how cannabis is addictive, even though the majority of people say that doesn't happen either. Just because people say it doesn't make it true.

Addiction is defined by Wikipedia as:

the continued repetition of a behavior despite adverse consequences

Saying that doesn't happen in a large amount of MDMA users is... a lie :\

I don't dose everyweek. I'm saying it...? I don't think anyone with a small amount of knowledge will suggest that MDMA is addictive. The chance of dependency is just really slim, practically negligible. It's retarded that we're even discussing this. The thread has derailed. Let's carry on the discussion about low-dose MDMA as a potential anti-depressant as it was rather interesting.

Mentally addictive; perhaps minimally, not really though. Certainly difficult to sustain an mdma addiction with any conviction.
Physically addictive; LOL

I thought bluelighters should be more open-minded :) (No offence). I've personally observed small illegal research, when two volunteers:
  1. 26 year old, generally healthy 55 kg. female, who suffer major depressive disorder with derealisation for last 8 year
  2. 25 year old, generally healthy 75 kg. male, who suffer seasonal affective disorder, general anxiety disorder and has some suicide attempts during his teenage/adolescent years. were treated with 10 mg. dose of 86% purity MDMA crystals daily for 14 (volunteer #1) and 10 (volunteer #2) days.
In first case, full remission of depressive symptoms (but not derealisation) was observed and reported by the volunteer during the treatment and one-one and a half week after the end of the treatment. It is important to mention, that volunteer reported, that she feel some minor pleasurable effects after every dose, that seems grow a little bit stronger from the begining of the treatment to the end (probably due to long half-life of MDMA and 7 % MDA metabolite with even longer half-life). It's also important to mention, that she tried conventional antidepressant treatment in the past (paroxetine, venlafaxine, agomelatine and burpopion), but they doesn't seem to help her in the long run. In the second case, there were major improvement of the general anxiety symptoms and full remission of SAD during the treatment, but it was impossible to observe positive effects in the long run, because that asshole got drunk and ingested large amounts of amphetamine in the end of 10 day. Reported effects: Positive
  • Lower anxiety level;
  • Disrupt compulsive behavior patterns (like constantly checking, is he or she forgot to close the door, or switch off the iron etc.);
  • Less social anxiety (it is less stressful to be in the crowded areas like subway);
  • Easier to fall asleep;
  • Improved socialisation (even with people who you don't like);
  • It's easier to focus on a specific task (better concentration);
  • Self-esteem improvement;
  • Improved introspection;
  • Raise of tolerance to everyday stress (as volunteer #2 said: "you're still may be annoyed or sad about specific situation, but you forget about it quickly after the situation is over").
Negative
  • Bruxism (mild);
  • Increased sweating (mild);
  • dry mouth (mild);
  • Lower appetite and weight loss (mild);
  • Agitation and anxiety first 30-60 min. after ingestion ;
  • I think it could damage tooth enemal (due to dry mouth);
  • Blurred vision (getting worse during the treatment).
God! It was hard to translate! My English is terrible! :) Hope it would be interesting for... anyone. If so - feel free to ask any questions.

No offense. I stopped reading your post when you cited 86% purity. Wah wah wah

^ ..... why? He probably lives in Holland and had it tested.

I thought it was very interesting, although I don't think 14 days is anywhere near long enough to show any kind of safety pattern. I would certainly imagine you'd feel better after taking hard drugs.. whether or not that would actually make (safe) lasting changes on the brain that could be used in an "anti-depressive" manor would be the real question.

Nah! That's fine. I can understand your scepticism. :)

Of course it can't! If we'd... they'd had right equipment, about 1000 volunteers and (the most important) government permission, they'd made some *real* placebo-controlled research and published it in some fancy medical journal. But all they have is one open-minded psychiatrist and a couple of open-minded and desperate patients. (8 fucking years of treatment-resistant major depression! I don't want to imagine, what her life is :| )

Personally I find this so called "research" interesting, only because it shows (not very accurately because... you know. Only two participants :\), that MDMA could affect mood disorders even in sub-treshold dosage without affecting everyday routine.
