Lorazepam not sedating?

I've heard lorazepem is supposed to be effective as a sleep aid.

Is it typical to not feel any sedation effects from lorazepem? I tried 1mg and 2mg, didn't feel any sleepy or tired. Is this a dosing issue, or does it just not affect me? I've got no benzo tolerance as this is my first.

Lorazepam is one of the more weak benzos, honestly I've seen lorazepam being prescribed more in anxiety related situations than for a sleep aid. You could up your dose a little, are you on any other medication I should know of?

From what I have read it is incredibly useful as an anticonvulsant but as far as sedation goes it has never really worked all that well for me either. I can cannot find the binding affinities for lorazepam but it makes sense that it would have a significant affinity for the GABAA a2 sub-type receptor and less on a1 and a5 which play a large role in sedative effects of many benzos.

I disagree with Lorazepam being good for sleep. In my experience the best benzo's for sleep are:
Nitrazepam
Flunitrazepam
Temazepam
Alprazolam
Triazolam
