I have been suffering from intense leg pain not really anything like RLS(restless leg syndrome). I have tried a number of different drugs, remedies with little to no relief. I have tried every benzo under the sun and endup finding myself super tried and out of it without any relief causing me to get only a couple of hours of sleep. I'm very desperate I have a job in the AM and usually don't get to bed until 5-7am and have to be up at 8am in the morning. Some of the drugs I've tried are Gabapentin, multi benzos and other RLS drugs, and just about every pain pill under the sun. I'm starting to think I have been misdiagnosed. I was at a point to where I was considering starting up my car and putting a hose into the window just for this to all be over. I've found pain meds work quite well but I have a highly addictive personality and do not want to get started on pain pills. I'm reaching out for the first time on this form as a last resort. The pain I experience is not sharp shooting pains but more of a pain irritating very painful type of pain that no matter what I try it keeps me up all night long. I've struggled with opiate addiction in the past and wanted to stay away from them. A 10mg perk will usually do the trick but doctors don't like to give them out. I'm reaching out in desperation! If anyone else gets leg pain and could provide me any advise it would be highly appreciated. I'm young, no back problems with a healthly diet.!

I used to get leg pain quite often as a child and it still comes back every once in a while. My mother would give me aspirin and the doctors never did figure out what was causing it. The only thing that helped my leg pain was using a heating pad.

Oh man this is shitty. Opioids are pretty much what's available for treating pain and sadly, you've already tried the Gabapentinoids with little success, which would probably be my first suggestion independent of the Opioids. Can I ask what your trials with the Gabapentin (Neurontin) were like? What dosages were you taking; did you ever try taking higher than prescribed dosages? For some, including myself, Gabapentin only becomes truly helpful when I exceed my prescribed dosage by a large margin. I don't mind making this suggestion, as A. You're in pain severe enough to cause you to contemplate suicide and B. Gabapentinoids, which include the drugs Pregabalin (Lyrica) and Phenibut (OTC) have a very wide therapeutic index. In other words, they are very, very safe.

For reference sake, I require about 4g Gabapentin to experience the effects that I want. The actual dosages that are prescribed don't do it for me. Obviously, misusing your scripts is not a sustainable practice, but perhaps you could save the large dose Gabapentin for periods of especially intense pain. At any rate, I would like to know more about your experience with the drug.

You said you might have been misdiagnosed. What was your diagnosis? Unfortunately leg pain can be caused by tons of different things, but your best bet for getting the proper treatment is to figure out the underlying cause.

Also, if youre having suicidal thoughts, it might be good to see a psychiatric specialist. Cognitive behavioral therapy might even help a little. Ive personally had a lot of bad experiences with them, but SSRIs can help reduce your perception of pain. Just some things to consider discussing with your docs.

Good luck BTW. Sounds like you're in a rough place.
