Hi, I am looking through the internet for articles that pertain to the use of ketamine nasal sprays as a medication for bi-polar depression and mania. So far this is what I have found so far, can anyone else find some creditable articles on safety, effectiveness, or dosing? I am trying to convince two doctors here in Texas to administer the ketamine nasal sprays, but I want to find good solid information to back up the prescriptions of it for bi-polar depression.
I had 3 ketamine infusion sessions with Dr. Goldman in Dallas, who is fairly liberal about ketamine infusions, he told me that the only patient he has ever declined for the infusions was 80 year olds and had heart issues. After the three rounds of 80 mg Intramuscular administered ketamine, I felt significantly better for about 3 weeks after.
I've tried every medication out there for bi-polar treatment, the only one that was effective was Lamictal, but after 4 times trying and each time having an allergic reaction to it, I have given up on that medication.
So far I have not found any articles that pertain to the exact dosing one should use via nasal spray. In particular though I am looking for articles that might shed some light on the habitual use of ketamine and possible negative side-effects.
I AM NOT INTERESTED IN THE RECREATIONAL USE OF KETAMINE. As fun as it is, that is not the prerogative here. I am looking for information on it's therapeutic use. Thank you :D
