I just had my new mac installed at the office... (I told my boss I needed it to trouble shoot they're ethernet segments... he's such a moron...) and I'm actually kinda diggin' it... Anyway, I figure this thread'll be REAL short!

I'm a mac user and lover but I'm peeved at the few software download sites that support macintosh software. Even the mac version of ICQ is far downgraded from the PC version. (I want colour and more than 450 characters per message

). I even went to a website the other day who didn't allow for apple users to access it. Came up with an error message to buy a new computer or wait a few months.
They have some amazing machines out at the moment (the G4 mmmm

) but nothing to support them. BUY MORE MACS PEOPLE!!! Then we might topple over this monopoly that microsoft have over the internet. MAC LOVERS UNITE!!!

I love my mac

He's a G3 400 named Spanky, and I hug him often (but only when alone). The thing I hate about macs is how expensive they are in Australia

I spent $4300 (and got ripped off with a 32%pa loan) on Spanky...which is pretty damn expensive now I've quit my multimedia degree and only use him for bluelight, email and IRC

But I know the potential to do so much more is there

Faster at doing what? Running MMX-enhanced PC software? No... heh, I'm so sick of hearing Mac ppl say "Oh my Mac is twice as fast assa PC of the same clock-speed, blah blah blah" Being a computer engidork has taught one one thing: all computers suck equally

The only important things are ease of use and content, which of course is totally realtive to what your doing.
If I wanting to make a cool 3D animation, I'd use an SGI
If I want'd to play QUACK 14, I'd get a PC
If I'm emulating sum nasty RISC processor and writing a fun assembly language program, they have fun fun Sun workstations and the likes.
If I was trying to buy my half-deaf/blind grandmother a computer so she could e-mail her li'l babies, I'd getta Mac
Of course, the TRUE test of any computer is how easy it is ta do PORN on it! And I think the PC takes the gold on that!!

Of course, if you plan on using any Adobe software or do multimedia/graphic design, Mac G4 WILL stomp any P3.
Check the benchmark tests on it...on average 2-3 times faster. But I must agree, Adj, all computers suck equally, and any using Microsoft products suck 2-3 times as much, on average

I can't believe this thread is still kickin' around! = ) That's hysterical. And just to give you a quick update... The first day I got the Mac, I bookmarked BL and the photo page and BlueMail, and I haven't done anything else with it since... It has been my 24 hour connection to the Bluelight Universe!!! Hee hee... (You may have noticed a slight increase in posts... ummmmm...) See, I'm a network enginneer. I work with PC and SUN based technology all day... I have ABSOLUTLELY NO JUSTIFIABLE NEED FOR A MACINTOSH!!! (While PlanetBluelight is a need, my boss wouldn't buy it I don't think...) Anyway, that's all I got. YEAH!!!

Hey! I've got an annoying idea! How 'bout we bump this post back to the top of the first page everytime we see it slip into the archives? That would symbolize the feverish devotion we harbor for our Macs! I don't suggest this out of love for the Mac OS or pride in "thinking different," I just like annoying people who use PC's...and trust me, they annoy easy! This is one of those instances where a lack of a challenge does not deter me in the slightest!

The Diz and I are both longtime Macheads who recently went over to the evil Empire (we switched from a 180mHz PPC to this 450 mHz Dell monstrosity) but we still love our lil rainbow colore fruity stuff... our next system will probably be an i-Book.
Besides, you haven't seen any pills called a Pentium have you? I haven't, but I rolled my ass off on Macintoshes a coupla times....
