IV heroin use and temporary paralysis of limbs

Roughly a month and a half ago I did a shot of black tar heroin- maybe about 2/10 of a gram- and immediately afterwards I blacked out and lost consciousness. I remember when I came to, anywhere from 1-3 hours later, I went to stand up and my ankle bent inward and I fell down. I realized that from about 3-4 inches above my ankle down was completely paralyzed. I could not bend my ankle, move my foot in any direction, or even wiggle my toes. Even a good stick with a needle gave no feeling whatsoever. And this did not go away anytime soon. For the first week and a half of this my foot was ice cold to the touch, eerily similar to the touch of a dead person's skin. At this point I went to the ER, and after only 2 hours and a CT scan of my foot and abdomen, the physician insisted there was nothing wrong and did not know what was causing the problem. So, I spent the next few weeks walking as much as possible, basically performing my own physical therapy. It took 2 weeks for the feeling to start returning at all. I am now able to walk as effectively as before, but there is still an area above my ankle that is fairly numb.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this same terrifying experience, and if anyone had been to a physician or specialist that was able to find a specific cause.

Do you remember the position you passed out in? Your position may have cut off circulation to your ankle/foot long enough to have caused permanent damage. I have heard of this happening before....once I took like 3x my normal tar shot and passed out in a slumped over position for about 45 minutes....couldn't feel my lower legs for over an hour, but the feeling eventually returned. Maybe a visit to a neurologist is in order
