Is there happiness after heroin addiction?

Yes life most definitely gets better each and every day. You just need to put yourself in the position to realize it. Don't glorify the old days. Yeah it feels great when you get high but that's it. That's like the only good thing. So every time you think about the old good old days don't think of that one thing, think of all the shitty things that come with it instead. I don't even have to give you a list of all that crap. Once you realize that you don't need it anymore and you're not physically addicted, your world will open back up to you, you're sober life. And you will get a kick out of the stuff that you thought would've been so lame. Like, for example, driving home from work and so excited because you're going to barbecue some hamburgers out back and watch the game. Or when a song comes on the radio and gives you chills because it's so awesome. When you get cleaned up you will be given your emotions back. Getting clean will be the hardest thing that any heroin addict or opiate addict will have to ever do in their entire life. Addiction is a disease, I don't care what anybody says. It's right in there in the book next to all the other diseases like cancer and diabetes and hepatitis. The only thing is addiction is not treated with drugs. In order to keep your symptoms of addiction under control you have to completely change the way that you think and the way that you have been thinking for however many years. People try for an entire lifetime to try and change the way that they think. Try and think of the number two for 30 seconds without thinking of anything else at all. It's pretty much next to impossible because your brain is always on hyperdrive. It really is amazing once you get clean to look back and see how unmanageable your life really was
