This is a legal question, but perhaps you guys could help.
Is phenyl-2-nitropropene legal in the United States? It's the result of the reaction between two controlled precursors (benzaldehyde and nitroethane), so I would guess it's illegal/controlled/watched, but it's not on the DEA's list. But I can find no reliable source referring to its legality.
Furthermore, would analogs like 1-(4-methylphenyl)-nitropropene be illegal?
