Is FREEBASE o-desmethyltramadol active orally?

Hi.
I recently got some o-dsmt powder in freebase form (98% pure).

Someone told me its NOT active orally and has to be smoked... im obviously not gonna "smoke" some opiod powder.

I just need to know whether he was right about it not being active orally. Is it?
I need to know because i dont wanna take something and damage my stomach
