It's basically a revulsion to authority that I have, any authority, but in this case, the authority of the calendar. First, the holidays come, and right on Pavlovian cue, everyone gets sort of happier and nicer for about a month. Like the time I got pulled over on Christmas Eve and the cop was so giddy and how he didn't write me a ticket just because it was Christmas. I mean, why can't we just be this way all year? And then comes the new year and we all put away the trees and decorations and get ready for tax season. And round it goes. Feels like being herded.

Thing is, there's no point in wondering what if, since it's not.
We're not nice all year round, we're pissed off all year long,
and get nice for a month, that's just how it is.

If you want to change the entire concept, the only thing you can do is make a step in the right direction yourself, and promote the step in order to cause a ripple effect. Like I keep saying "please people work social jobs", like it's my fucking mantra.
