I will start by saying I am in constant and severe pain from three buldging discs in my lumbar. I have a concert to go to tomorrow and I can barely stand. I usually take 80mg every now and then and I'm fine, I get the normal itchiness and euphoric feeling. But I'm just wondering if taking 160mg will be too much and I won't be able to enjoy the show.

When you say you use 80 mg every now and then, does this mean they are not prescribed? Going from 80 to 160 mg is a big jump and I wouldn't recommend this unless your doctor prescribes them that way.

It's hard to tell whether it would be safe or not because I don't know your tolerance. 40-60 mg is the lethal dose for most people with no tolerance, so try to factor in your tolerance to that. 160 mg is huge compared to 80 mg, so it's probably too much. Maybe 120ish? If you choose to take that high of a dose, go to your pharmacy and buy some naloxone. It's an OTC nosespray designed to counter opiod doses. the instructions are on the box. Give it to a friend with you in case you're unconscious. Good luck, stay safe.

I buy from a friend maybe five to six times a month, I am not prescribed them. I also have a high tolerance to a lot of drugs that I have ever taken. I have never done heroin and I don't think I ever want to, I never have to chase the euphoric feeling. Mainly because I don't take them to abuse them, only enough to enjoy. But not having health care and being denied Medicaid makes it hard to see doctors and specialist. The most I have ever taken in a day was 120mg and I was nodding off but I never felt as though I was dying or going to. I might just cut the 80s in half and take them through the day.

Thank you very much for the information, I will go check my local pharmacy for the nose spray. I will keep myself hydrated and I will have my brother looking after me. He knows what is going on and he know I will be dosing, so I will have a sit in just in case. Plus I usually stand near the door where the medics are, I know they will be able to have a quick response if I'm next to them.

I would just take your normal 80 wait a bit and then maybe break the other 80 into 1/4's or 1/2's and take one at a time slowly.

40-60mg a lethal dose? Not even close. Maybe 100mg in a non tolerant user

I googled "oxycodone lethal dose" and this was in the first website that came up: "However, there are some basic guidelines to follow. Single doses > 40 mg of controlled release oxycodone or total daily doses of of controlled release oxycodone greater than 80 mg is too much for someone just starting the medicine. These doses may cause fatal respiratory depression when given to people new to oxycodone." I checked a couple other websites and the infromation was consistant. I understand that for some people the lethal dose is much higher than others, but you can't tell who's who so do you really wanna take that risk?

I would look up the mg / kg versus one magic number when trying to determine that. Also the ng/ml range is 100-500 Nanograms per Milliliter of blood and states "Highly Variable" next to all of the values given. NIH, PubMed articles are a better place to try and track down the most probable figures vs Google. Don't rely on google or yahoo alone, please.

Thanks for the NIH and PubMed websites/articles, I'll start using those from now on. He didn't give us his weight though, so we couldn't really calculate the dose based on that.
