Help with Tincture of Opium

I am prescribed 6ml daily Tincture of Opium (laudanum) plus (8) tabs of 2.5mg Lomotil. Been taking it about 4 years because of full colectomy (large intestine removed). These doses are at FDA max recommended. I am hoping to get (anecdotal) recommendations/advice... 1. Can my gastroenterologist prescribe above FDA max? 2. How can I increase bioavailability of the laudanum? 3. Any other meds I can take with these meds or in lieu of? Codeine helps a little; Oramorph is similar to the laudanum. 4. Anyone have experience with Opium/Belladonna suppositories? Or other meds? Any opiod/opiate helps but easiest to get in my case is the laudanum (on label); any other analgesic would be "off label" for my condition.
