help with a marquis reaction

This is expected to be methylone but I thouht the results were supposed to show straight yellow. The kit is nearly a year old so that could be the case, but what would this reaction lead one to believe?
 
Did it go to this colour within 5 or so seconds?

Looks like a 2C.

It's def. not a 2C-halogen unless he used a truly tiny amount of the 2C.

It could be a 2C-alkyl (2C-D/E/P), but that doesn't match up entirely either... or it could be impure methylone, or something else entirely.
It doesn't look like methylone should though.... definitely need to confirm identity before you take it.

Do you have the other reagents? Marquis really isn't sufficient for identifying a chemical.
 
Well I just found a bit left from another batch that I tried a while ago that was definitely 100% methylone so I'll upload a control comparison to find out if it's just my reagent.
