Have a cold, sore throat, body aches, sinus...Antidepressants and Nonbenzo....

So I’m taking Lexapro and Non Benzo for adjustment disorder w/anxiety.... what can I take for this illness I have? I briefly spoke to my psychiatrist cause she is sick as a dog as well. She said not to take any dextromethorphane? If im not mistaken. Does that sound right?

I have chills, sore throat, sinus congestion, body aches. I’m not sure if I feel anxiety or not.

She is right about not using cough preparations that contain dextromethorphan because of the risk of serotonin syndrome. Last year when I was taking Lexapro and got the flu, my doctor prescribed guaifenesin with codeine. But I was on a low dose of Lexapro at 10 mg. What I would do is ask your doctor or pharmacist which medication would be safest for you. Hope you feel better soon!
