I just got back from watching this. Going in, I really wanted to like it and did........for a while. Admittedly, it did have a creepy atmosphere. But, after a while, it just kept getting more and more repetitive.

The first problem with the movie is that 95% of it centers around Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler. I'm hardpressed to think of two actors more bland than these two. They have about as much charisma as Helen Keller on xanax. The trailer looked very creepy, so I ignored my indifference of these two actors.

The movie was good, up until the 40 minute mark. Then it was just a repetitive cycle of show the killers and have Liv be unaware/show Liv running from the killers/show Liv hiding from the killers. This was about 30 minutes of the movie. I just kept thinking, "Fucking get her already! I get it. You're toying with her. You're also boring the piss out of me!"

Also, I can't remember a louder movie than The Strangers. It was almost as if loud noise was an additional, annoying character. Even the masked man's asthmatic breathing was loud as fuck. People using their cellphones were going, "I'm gonna have to call you back! I can't hear a fucking word you're saying! I'll have to be rude and use my phone at another movie!"

I don't know if it was for others, but the very beginning of the movie was a spoiler for me.
NSFW:
The Texas Chainsaw-like narration informs us that it was based on true events and that the full story is unknown. Boom. Right there, the dumbass just told us, "The two bland characters in this movie are gonna die. After all, if one or both lived, then the story would be fully known, now wouldn't it?" Yeah, Liv grabs the kid's hand at the end and makes even more fucking noise, but she was stabbed just like her counterpart. She was toast. I also hated how they set it up for a sequel. "The next time will be easier.", dollface tells them. Well, it can't be any louder. That's for damn sure.

All in all, this movie was like someone hitting you in the head with a sponge. At first it's like, "Hey! I just got hit in the head! What the fuck?" Then it's, "Huh? It's only a sponge? Should I even be bothered by this?" The answer is (INSERT LOUD DRAMATIC NOISE OVER ANSWER!!!)

i saw this with Swerz the other day
it was ok i guess

i jumped at a few parts but a lot of the time we were laughing

i probably would have actually enjoyed it if i didn't get commentary from the peanut gallery every 2 minutes.

otherwise, i liked it for what it was.

Not a great flick. The music was creepy. Not worth the $10. I should have went to Sex and the City then snuck in to this one so I wouldn't feel so ripped off.

honestly i enjoyed this movie. i enjoy thrillers that aren't based on the paranormal. those are all usually shit :p

it was mostly based off of psychological torture really. the ending was the fucked up part. the slow stabbing was just intense. i really felt it for them at the end :|
