I just saw this a few weeks ago and loved it. Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke, it features a non-linear plot like 21 grams, and is about two guys who decide to rob a jewlery store... owned by their own parents.

Anyone else seen it?

I am dying to se it, even more now that you say it is a good one. LOVE P.S.Hoffman. He is a genius.

Interesting film that does not follow much of a typical hollywood model. Nice character development and a very nicely written story.

Hoffman is an extremely underrated actor.

Hoffman was AWESOME in Red Dragon. And The Talented Mr. Ripley. And The Savages. And everything he has ever been in. I would do him before I would do Brad Pitt. The Hoff Man is much more interesting.

Good flick. Marisa Tomei looks incredible.

Spoiler question below.
NSFW:

In the scene where Andy (Philip Syemour-Hoffman) is under the influemce of heroin at the drug dealer's condo, he is babbling about his "being incomplete" or "not adding up." What is the purpose of this scene? Normally, a character taking heroin would be an immediate cue that 'this is a bad person' or whatever. But the scene seems to have the opposite effect; the viewer probabaly already sees Andy as a scumbag, for robbing his parents' jewelry store, and his self-analysis renders him, if anything, as more sympathetic, not less.

Thoughts?

I think they were just trying to illustrate why he was able to make the cold callous decision to rob his own folks. It also serves to underscore his desperation. IMO.

i watched this quite recently - i really enjoyed it even though it had me sat on the edge of my sofa squirming in discomfort for the entire duration of the movie.

alasdair

This movie has some fucked up plot lines, but you get to see alot of Marisa Tomai's tits :) .

when i saw the post in the theatre when it was out, it looked like a lame teeny slasher. a mate recommended it and it's friggin great. tense, solid ride from start to finish. kinda looked like an american "cassandra's dream".

4.5/5 (voted 4)

i don't like the title

I saw this last summer, but I don't honestly remember a lot of it since I was way too into BDO at the time. I didn't pass out of anything, and I remember thinking it had a great plot, with all those twists and turns. Thanks for posting this, I'm going to watch it again sometime soon. Seymor Hoffman is a fricken dimented genious in it, pretty much as always. Anyone see that movie where his wife dies and he becomes addicted to inhaling gasoline?

yah, movie is dope as fuck. i love what a fuck up hoffman is in this movie and the drastic measures he takes.
