My favorite band is Sublime, and my favorite lyrics would be:

"Just let the lovin' take a hold because it will if you let it, i'm funky not a junky but i know where'd you get it"-Boss DJ

And i also love their cover of Scarlet Begonias, "Well i aint never been right as i've never been wrong. as everything works out the way it does in this song. cause once in a while you get shown in the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right."

I like Sublime, although I don't find their lyrics to be anything special.
Some of my favourite lyricists would be Maynard James Keenan of Tool, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. SOAD have some nice lyrics, that are quotable. Pink Floyd have some great lyrics.
One of my favourite singers would be Cedric of At The Drive-In/The Mars Volta.

i love neil young. my favourite neil young lyric is from barstool blues:

"And I saw you in my nightmares
But I'll see you in my dreams
And I might live a thousand years
Before I know what that means.
"

i also love leonard cohen. favourites include chelsea hotel no. 2:

"I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel
you were famous, your heart was a legend.
You told me again you preferred handsome men
but for me you would make an exception.
And clenching your fist for the ones like us
who are oppressed by the figures of beauty,
you fixed yourself, you said, 'Well never mind,
we are ugly but we have the music.'
"

and first we take manhattan:

"I'm guided by a signal in the heavens
I'm guided by this birthmark on my skin
I'm guided by the beauty of our weapons
...
Ah you loved me as a loser, but now you're worried that I just might win
You know the way to stop me, but you don't have the discipline
"

i really like this one
And I saw you in my nightmares
But I'll see you in my dreams
And I might live a thousand years
Before I know what that means."

My first post in words. word.

Radiohead.

I have pyramid song in mind now, but there are a plethora of others.

I jumped in the river and what did I see?
Black-eyed angels swam with me
A moon full of stars and astral cars
All the things I used to see
All my lovers were there with me
All my past and futures
And we all went to heaven in a little row boat
There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

I jumped into the river
Black-eyed angels swam with me
A moon full of stars and astral cars
And all the things I used to see
All my lovers were there with me
All my past and futures
And we all went to heaven in a little row boat
There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt
There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

i was listening to nine inch nails - broken earlier today and now i have happiness in slavery stuck in my head. not sure it is my favorite nin song but nin is defenitly one of my favorite bands

Slave screams he thinks he knows what he wants
Slave screams thinks he has something to say
Slave screams he hears but doesn't want to listen
Slave screams he's being beat into submission

Don't open your eyes you won't like what you see
The devils of truth steal the souls of the free
Don't open your eyes, take it from me
I have found
You can find
Happiness in slavery

Slave screams he spends his life learning conformity
Slave screams he claims he has his own identity
Slave screams he's going to cause the system to fall
Slave screams but he's glad to be chained to that wall

Don't open your eyes you won't like what you see
The blind have been blessed with security
Don't open your eyes, take it from me
I have found
You can find
Happiness in slavery

I don't know what I am I don't know where I've been
Human junk just words and so much skin
Stick my hands through the cage of this endless routine
Just some flesh caught in this big broken machine

i especially like that part.

Robert Hunter of the Grateful Dead.

Just like Jack the Ripper
Just like Mojo Hand
Just like Billy Sunday
In a shotgun ragtime band
Just like New York City,
Just like Jericho
Pace the halls and climb the walls
Get out when they blow

(Chorus)
Did you say your name was
Ramblin' Rose?
Ramble on, baby
Settle down easy
Ramble on, Rose

Just like Jack and Jill
Mama told the sailor
One heat up and one cool down
Leave nothin' for the tailor
Just like Jack and Jill
My Papa told the jailer
One go up and one come down
Do yourself a favor

(Chorus)

(Bridge)

I'm gonna sing you a hundred verses in ragtime
I know this song it ain't never gonna end
I'm gonna march you up and down the local county line
Take you to the leader of the band

Just like Crazy Otto
Just like Wolfman Jack
Sittin' plush with a royal flush
Aces back to back
Just like Mary Shelley
Just like Frankenstein
Clank your chains and count your change
Try to walk the line

(Repeat chorus and bridge)

Goodbye, Mama and Papa
Goodbye, Jack and Jill
The grass ain't greener, the wine ain't sweeter
either side of the hill.

Did you say your name was
Ramblin' Rose?
Ramble on, baby
Settle down easy
Ramble on, Rose

Never Ending Math Equation by Modest Mouse

I'm the same as I was when I was 6 years old
And oh my God I feel so damn old
I don't really feel anything
On a plane, I can see the tiny lights below

And oh my God, they look so alone
Do they really feel anything?
Oh my God, I've gotta gotta gotta gotta move on
Where do you move when what you're moving from

Is yourself?
The universe works on a math equation
that never even ever really ends in the end
Infinity spirals out creation

We're on the tip of its tongue, and it is saying
We ain't sure where you stand
You ain't machines and you ain't land
And the plants and the animals, they are linked

And the plants and the animals eat each other
Oh my God and oh my cat
I told my Dad what I need
Well I know what I have and want

But I don't know what I need
Well, he said he said he said he said
"Where we're going I'm dead."

The Grateful Dead and Robert Hunter will take credit for those lyrics, as they are widely known as the band with the deepest and most profound lyrics in the history of rock n roll
