Misc DXM - How to know all the alcohol is extracted?

I read that even the smallest amount of alcohol increases your cancer risk for years, maybe even 30 years; it said even worse than smoking which goes back to baseline of a non smoker after only like 5 years of no smoking.

I despise alcohol and avoid it like the plague but I am unable to get dxm in UK in anything but the cough syrup which always contains alcohol.

So how could it be removed? Would the ammonia and naphtha trick get rid of it all? Also I was a bit concerned about those items. Naptha being flammable but they said ammonia is also dangerous as its a caustic and could cause eye damage? I don't want to end up with serious harm just for some shitty dxm.

I do find it to be a useful anti-depressant though to be used on an acute basis when I am really desperate for some relief and don't have any kratom and/or tolerance has stopped it from working (which happens frequently).
