DXM Binge and Mental/Physical Health

I don't believe the parallels to ketamine are correct as far as Olney's lesions etc. but I was under the impression that the cognitive difficulties with language and such are somewhat common even anecdotally concerning extensive abuse.

NMDA antagonists might be protective in some instances concerning excitotoxicity (helps lessen excitatory glutamate) but it does appear there are some deficits in the long term abusers but it also appears those deficits lessen or disappear completely with enough time.

Ive read it may actually be nueroprotective. What is your source for DXM directly causing neurotoxicity other than in extremely high doses/combinations? I'm not saying it isn't nuerotoxic, just that I don't think anyone knows for sure from what I understand. Correct me if wrong.

I was referencing high dosages and combinations with prolonged use. I've also observed most DXM abusers to be rather juvenile in age i.e. 14-22
