Drug analysis services?

If one were to suspect that a mixture, such as proposed codiene cough syrup may contain unstated ingredients, what resources (if any) are available to the general public regarding drug analysis? Paid services are worth mentioning.

I imagine that if you asked a pharmacist, they would have this information if you purchased it there and they would not charge you for that. Is this an over-the-counter preparation?

let's say it was bought from a guy selling cough syrup, looks legitimate but you never know.
