Anybody know the legal aspects of this? Any tips on what to do or say if I encounter the cops???

As always... never say ANYTHING to the police beyond what you are legally obligated to tell them. I believe you must identify yourself with your correct name and provide ID if you have it. Beyond that, anything you say to them CAN and WILL be used AGAINST YOU in a court of law. So keep your mouth shut. Lying to them is a crime.

If while doing this you assault/batter a customer, be prepared to face felony charges that you will then have to deal with. It's not the same as being a bouncer in a club where the injured patron may be presumed to have been drunk, disorderly, etc. The person you're protecting is doing something illegal, thus you'll suffer that taint as well.

GlassAss: It's a fun job, but somebody's got to do it.

When one is presumably a part of an organization RICO stuff could come up. I'm NOT saying this applies or doesn't, and I don't think it would be wise to describe anything about the business structure. It is something to consider a possibility any time one is operating as a legitimate business, that a prosecutor could perceive you as a criminal enterprise. Not saying it is likely, just a good thing to be aware of.

In many cases, the threat of a RICO indictment can force defendants to plead guilty to lesser charges, in part because the seizure of assets would make it difficult to pay a defense attorney. Despite its harsh provisions, a RICO-related charge is considered easy to prove in court, as it focuses on patterns of behavior as opposed to criminal acts.

Section 1961 of RICO lists many criminal offenses that fall under the definition of racketeering activity. Some of these include murder, kidnapping, illegal gambling, arson (intentionally setting a fire), robbery, bribery (promising a person money or a favor in return for certain action), extortion (threatening harm if one does not comply with a crime group's request or plan), dealing in obscene matter (pornography), smuggling aliens (moving illegal immigrants across the nation's borders); counterfeiting, embezzlement (to secretly steal money or property for one's own use), mail fraud (fake offers through the mail between different states), obstructing criminal investigations, prostitution, sexual exploitation of children, theft, drug trafficking, and money laundering.

Jesus racketeering sucks. Its too freakin' broad a definition. Thanks for the hook up. So if I get the cuffs slapped on me then i'll just keep my mouth shut. I deal with irrate customers more than anything. Last night I almost had to hit a woman...
