Opioids Daily Hydromorphone for pain....not working.

So im on baclofen (muscle relaxant) & 2 mg diladid twice a day...the pain is bad & some days i need to take 3 tabs. this seems like a low dose anyway. Im thinking of callling dr to ask to increase dosage. I have degerative arthritis in my spine with multiple compresion fracures. do u think im asking too much? I cant even see a specialist till Oct.20th...

How long have you been on dilaudid?

You might benefit from a change of medicine, morphine, oxycodone, etc.

2mg is a low dose. I'm prescribed 12mg 3x a day.
I found methadone one of the best for pain control and doctors outside clinics also prescribe it for moderate to severe pain.
I would tell him that you don't feel like 2mg is working.

You might benefit from a tolerance reduction regimen, like adding ultra-low dosed naltrexone (do your research, it's just a few micrograms or you'll rush into precipitated withdrawal!) or a NMDA receptor antagonist like memantine or dextromethorphan, they are analgesic on their own and limit tolerance development to opioids a bit due to some receptor interaction. The latter, DXM, is even available as over the counter med.

But as Jennn already said, your dosage is also low.

Thanks for the input...i will call my dr & ask to increase doseage. ;-)

update....he said NO increase, he doesnt want me to get "addicted"..FFS! 4mg a day is a fu&%ing joke.
