My friend is a Coke user and always gets nauseous and dry heaves when he uses, any tips to prevent this?

This has happened to me plenty of times, usually when the product is more potent than I'm used to or the drip is extremely disgusting.
To prevent nausea, I suggest taking a Zofran or even a Promethazine pill; the latter works the best for me. Try drinking liquids that contain ginger as it naturally relieves nausea as well. Also, lying down flat on your back for a little bit until it kicks in can help override the nauseous feeling.
Sometimes it depends on your stomach content as well. You're more prone to throwing up from anything on a completely empty stomach. Light meal. Toast even.
