Renfrew, Ont., man, 21, charged after child carries cocaine to school
CBC News Posted: Sep 20, 2013 3:17 PM ET Last Updated: Sep 20, 2013 5:06 PM ET

An eastern Ontario man has been charged after a four-year-old child showed up at school with a lighter full of cocaine, police say.

Ontario Provincial Police in Renfrew, Ont., west of Ottawa, say the child had what appeared to be a lighter.

Police were called and they discovered it was actually used to conceal cocaine.

A 21-year-old relative of the child, who is from Renfrew, admitted the cocaine belonged to him, police said.

He has been charged with drug possession and was released on a promise to appear in court on Nov. 13.

The accused’s name has been withheld to protect the identity of the child, police added.

That seems pretty bizarre.
Why in a lighter?
Why in a place where the kid could get it?

^ A-ha! You must be right.
The child found it and just took it.
The dad could not imagine that the child would take it, and considered it hidden and safe.
Mystery solved.
(Except the mystery of why someone will have to go to jail for possessing drugs. That endangering the welfare of a child could cause someone of go to jail is much less of a mystery, however.)

Yes it says in the original post that it looked like a lighter but turned out to be a container to hide cocaine in.
