Can high doses if gabapentin cause extreme diarrhea?

I like to start off by saying that I'm a recovering addict and have relied on bluelight posts for advice for years. I finally decided to make a post of my own. Ok so I've been on and off of gabapentin for years for different reasons but in the last year I've began to abuse it. I love the way they relieve my anxiety and pain (not to mention the high) I mean I've taken doses higher than 8000mgs but I've begun to have horrible diarrhea! Almost to the point of having accidents. Is the gabapentin causing this? Has anyone else experienced this? Any feedback is appreciated

Hi Jen and welcome to Bluelight! It's not uncommon for people to experience gastric disturbances from therapeutic doses of gabapentin. So I can see how at 8,000 + mg you are getting diarrhea. Unfortunately, I get the same symptoms if I exceed 1,200 in a day so I feel like a lightweight next to you!
